OpenAI CEO Sam Altman says Apple Vision Pro is ‘second most impressive tech’; this is his top pick

Apple Vision Pro is out and some lucky ones have their hands on the company’s latest ‘big thing’. Some of the tech bigwigs, including at least one CEO, have already praised the gadget and now, OpenAI chief Sam Altman has his thoughts on it.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he said that Apple VisionPro is the second most impressive tech that has been launched. According to him, another Apple device – the iPhones – still reigns at top.
“vision pro is the second most impressive tech since the iphone,” he said in a post on X. A user replied by saying that vision pro is “Probably the worst name”. To this Altman said, “chatgpt is a lot worse.” OpenAI is the company that developed ChatGPT that made AI chatbots mainstream.

Nothing CEO praises Vision Pro’s ‘progress’
Previously, Carl Pei, who is the CEO of London-based company Nothing, also praised Apple’s ‘progress’ in making Vision Pro while terming ‘the product’ as ‘mid’.
“We should celebrate Apple for making the Vision Pro, even if the gen1 product is mid. This is how progress is made, people try new things, learn, and iterate. Gen2 will be better!” he said.

Pei also made an analogy in a reply to a comment which pointed out that “Gen 1 would’ve been much better with key content providers on board – Netflix, YouTube, Spotify. Gotta say though, it’s satisfying that after years of being bullied by Apple, companies can bite back.”
Pei agreed and said that “a big reason why Windows Phone failed was lack of developer support.”
Apple Vision Pro lacks some essential apps support, including Netflix and Spotify. YouTube was also said not to bring its app on Vision Pro but recently it announced that a YouTube app is “on the roadmap.”
