NBC Drops Ronna McDaniel After Network Stars Revolt

After an unprecedented barrage of on-air opposition from network stars, NBC News has cut ties with Ronna McDanielthe former Republican National Committee chair, whom they hired last week as a contributor.

“No organization, particularly a newsroom, can succeed unless it is cohesive and aligned. Over the last few days, it has become clear that this appointment undermines that goal,” NBCU News Group Chairman Cesar Conde said in a memo to the entire news group on Tuesday evening. The memo came hours after Puck’s Dylan Byers reported that NBC planned to drop McDaniel, executives were deliberating over details, and McDaniel

Complex, unfamiliar sentences make the brain’s language network work harder | MIT News

With help from an artificial language network, MIT neuroscientists have discovered what kinds of sentences are most likely to fire up the brain’s key language processing centers.

The new study reveals that sentences that are more complex, either because of unusual grammar or unexpected meaning, generate stronger responses in these language processing centers. Sentences that are very straightforward barely engage these regions, and nonsensical sequences of words don’t do much for them either.

For example, the researchers found this brain network was most active when reading unusual sentences such as “Buy sell signals remain a particular,” taken from a publicly

TV Network Ratings Winners & Losers

There are several popular social media accounts that graph weekly cable network schedules, and it’s always stunning to see how many schedulers have just given up. Nearly every cable network, large and small, now mostly program marathons of their most popular shows.

You know about “Ridiculousness” on MTV, of course. But did you know how much time Disney Channel runs “Big City Greens,” Nick Jr. airs “Paw Patrol,” Adult Swim telecasts “Bob’s Burgers” and “American Dad,” and Nick at Nite runs “Friends”? A lot.

As basic cable gets zombified, the double-digit declines continue. Live sports, of course, is saving the

Joe Biden Lunches With Network News Anchors In Pre-SOTU Tradition

The White House is continuing a tradition of hosting major network TV news anchors for a lunch with the president on the day he delivers the State of the Union address, according to sources.

The lunch is typically off the record, but in the past parts of the conversation have been allowed to be used. In 2022, for example, Biden allowed a comment about NATO and the “unity of the west” to be used.

The three broadcast anchors were among those dining, including NBC News’ Lester Holt, ABC News’ David Muir and CBS News’ Norah O’Donnell. Also there: MSNBC’s Lawrence

DOE charts path for offshore wind grid network

Building massive power lines in the Atlantic Ocean could link not only new offshore wind farms but also onshore electricity grids from Maine to South Carolina, according to a report released Thursday by the Department of Energy.

The Atlantic Offshore Wind Transmission study, an analysis two years in the making from DOE’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory, found that a connected offshore wind network would cut down on grid congestion onshore and increase the reliability of the electricity system overall. It would also allow power to flow to areas of high demand when needed as well as move from low-priced areas

RNC threatens to punish NBC for firing Ronna McDaniel: Spokeswoman says network could be banned from Trump’s coronation convention, but new chairman insists they need to use all channels to reach voters

The Republican National Committee Thursday offered conflicting messages about whether it planned to punish NBC by withholding access over its treatment of former chair Ronna McDaniel.

A spokesperson said the organization was taking a ‘hard look’ at the network’s participation at this summer’s convention, when Donald Trump will officially become the party’s nominee.

Meanwhile, the new RNC chair pushed back on the idea, saying Republicans should use all available avenues to reach voters.

NBC News announced Tuesday that McDaniel, who repeatedly raised questions about the results of the 2020 election, would not appear on the network as a paid contributor

China launches world’s fastest internet with 1.2 terabits per second link, years ahead of forecasts

China has beaten a global deadline, launching the world’s first next-generation Internet service – more than 10 times faster than existing major routes – two years ahead of industry predictions.

The backbone network – so called because it forms a principal data route between cities – can transmit data at 1.2 terabits (1,200 gigabits) per second between Beijing in the north, central China’s Wuhan and Guangzhou in the southern province of Guangdong.

The line, which spans more than 3,000km (1,860 miles) of optical fiber cabling, was activated in July and officially launched on Monday, after performing reliably and passing all
